Stevo the Bass

‘Stevo the Bass’ is the culmination of a lifetime spent delving the endless depths of bass; both as a maestro bass-guitarist and as a humble student of dub.

Stevo the Bass’s music features deep growling bass, rich horn lines, a driving wall of percussion, and hypnotic dubs.

Live bass is the fundamental element of Stevo’s sound. This is best experienced in the live arena, with the eyeball-shaking sub-frequencies of the Soundsystem session.

On record or on stage, Stevo the Bass retains this unique stamp by oscillating between live dub-mixing and instrumentation.

Stevo's debut Album, Nascent Roots, was released over the winter of 2024/25. The album is delves into the heavier side of UK steppas, and is the soundtrack of Stevo’s past few years, rooting down in Bristol.

The album began in June 2022 as a month-long project to create a track-a-day.

The months’ worth of new riddims was whittled down to 6 tracks, which bacame Nascent Roots.

Alongside the 6 tracks and their respective dubs, each part of Nascent Roots features a remix from Zion Train (part 1), Vibronics (part 2), and Alpha Steppa (part 3).

Each artists has had a huge influence on ‘Stevo’s sound, so it is a great honour to have their imprint on this album.
